Peg Whisky featuring Brother & Gent

Last year (seems like a long time ago) we asked Dan Gardner from Brother & Gent what he thought about Peg Whisky’s scotch range and here is what he had to say on them…

Peg Whisky Blended Scotch Whisky

Peg Whisky Blended Scotch Whisky

Dan: First up was the Blended Scotch Whisky by Peg. I'm not always too crazy about blended Scotch Whiskies if I'm honest. I've never been too impressed with them, or at least I'd never choose to drink one over a single malt. That being said, this blended dram from Peg definitely got me thinking. It was a very warm & smooth drop, a hint of orange, toffee, malt and a little spice. With it's soft and sweet finish, it did in fact leave me wanting more. So, hats off to you on this one Peg.

Peg Whisky’s response: Glad you enjoyed it Dan, we tried extremely hard to make sure the blends we helped create got the care and attention the single malts did. Blended scotch is making a come back in the whisky industry! watch this space as we have a lot more planned with our blended series soon, so keep an eye out for it!

Peg Whisky Small Batch Exclusive Series 1

Peg Whisky Small Batch Exclusive Series 1

Dan: Thursday night is bath night. I'm talking candles, bath salts, spa music and a wee dram for company. This Thursday I was definitely in good company. This small batch exclusive from Peg Whisky was a real treat. First impression - it took me by surprise! Not sure if that was to do with the fact my bath was a thousand degrees and I was feeling a little fragile, but this dram sure grabbed my attention!

Toffee apple and orange spice on the nose, with a hint of cream. A mouthful of malty vanilla, with toffee notes. An oaky and crisp finish. Very approachable. Very satisfying.

Peg Whisky’s response:
More of a lukewarm/cold shower guy myself personally, but each to their own! Ha, happy that the small batch exclusive satisfied your taste buds Dan. At 46% ABV and non-chill filtered, this dram will not disappoint. Its so smooth and packs so much flavour on the palate and finish, it will have you thinking you are drinking a 25 year old single malt!

Peg Whisky Limited-Edition No. I

Peg Whisky Limited Edition no. 1

Dan: Last, but definitely not least was the Limited-Edition No.1 Whisky from Peg. This was a delightful drop. It was thick & smooth, with honey, spice and cinnamon notes - a real winter warmer! A long finish of sugar malt. Quite a complex taste to be honest, not your everyday whisky.

I could definitely imagine this being a perfect dram on a cold winters day, sipping it slow whilst watching a classic Western movie, like Tombstone.. “I'm your Huckleberry.”

Peg Whisky’s response: The holy grail from the Peg Whisky range, our first beloved cask strength release with plenty more coming out soon in the ‘near’ future (February 2021) ;)

This certainly packs a punch at an impressive 64.9% ABV. With its natural colour and non-chill filtered which means however we found it in the cask was exactly how we bottled it and will always do so for any future releases too. The perfect dram for a cold winters evening, slainte! P.S. Tombstone – absolute #Classic good choice sir!
